A Raconteur
I’m not really a storyteller, I’m more of a raconteur. My stories center around my personal experiences growing up on a small farm in Ohio. I come from a rich southern Appalachian heritage, Mom was from East Tennessee, Dad was from Eastern Kentucky, but somehow I didn’t know we were Appalachian until I was in my 30’s. Granted, I wasn’t born in the South, but I got here as fast as I could! Allow me to present my take on our southern Appalachian experience . Heck, it’s better than your mom’s cornbread! OK, that’s not true because nothing’s better than Mom’s cornbread . . . but I’ll guarantee it’s much less fattening!

I don’t tell folk tales, nor will you find me relating stories by the brothers Grimm. What you will find is a collection of personal narratives of a good ol’ boy who grew up on a small rural farm in Ohio. There’s not one thing you’ll find in the stories that couldn’t be said in church, but the themes and situations are geared toward more adult audiences (usually age 13 and older).
Remember back to the trials and tribulations of your youth. High school provided alternating moments of great ecstasy and bitter sorrow. Even family interactions furnished moments of insight, growth, comedy, and sometimes tragedy. Recognize the parallels to your own life experiences as you listen to my past and current adventures.
I’ve certainly never been accused of maturity in any sense of the word. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a journey through the eyes of a late-fifties teenager!
